Olive Garden may not be the best example of an Italian restaurant, but I love their minestrone and (unlimited) breadsticks. Tonight I tried Jamie Oliver’s ‘minestrone d’inizio autunno’ (early autumn minestrone). I am not a very good direction-follower, and I’ve never made an Italian soup before, so the task was a bit daunting, but after chopping a variety of vegetables (some of which I never handled before (i.e., fennel, Swiss chard, and kale), I simply had to put them into a pot to boil. The soup didn’t taste anything like the one at Olive Garden, but it tasted as good as the picture. Obviously, Jamie Oliver doesn’t work at Olive Garden.
