I Cook: How to Make Cake Pops

One of my bridesmaids, Hannah/Kyusun, taught (i.e., forced) me how to make cake pops for my own bridal shower favors. (I know!! >:I)  keke. jk. I wanted to learn and I also wanted to share the process since cake-pops have been a trend.

Step 1: Bake a cake (flavor of choice). *Tip: make the batter less sweet because you’ll mix in frosting later in the process.

Step 2: Let it cool.

Step 3: Crumble it apart with a fork or large spoon.

Step 4: Mix in frosting (flavor of choice) until the batter is sticky in consistency (like play-doh).

Step 5: Take a generous pinch of the batter and roll it into a ball (~1″)


Step 6: Insert popsicle sticks.

Step 7: Cool it in the freezer for 1hr+

Step 8: Melt chocolate (flavor of choice) in a bowl.

Step 9: Prepare decorations (e.g., sprinkles)

Step 10: Take a cake-pop and dip it into the melted chocolate. *Note: Chocolate can get messy. Don’t hold the cake-pops upside down. Make sure to remove the excess chocolate before decorating.

Step 11: Decorate.

Step 12: ENJOY!!
